2020 Chevy Reaper Price, MSRP, Engines, and Release Date

2020 Chevy Reaper Price, MSRP, Engines, and Release Date. The Chevrolet Reaper was designed to compete the Ford F-150 Raptor. Not everything was according to plan, and the company decided to end the development. That was back in 2014. The idea revived now and the truck could appear as the 2020 Chevy Reaper.

We can find first spy shots of the vehicle. Website tfltruck.com claims that they saw Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. Many experts think it will be Reaper. We will have to wait for official info, although some leaked sources are reporting about the development of the Chevy Reaper. They are still not sure if ZR2 will be the competitor to F-150 Raptor. Fans and enthusiasts hope to see it soon.

2020 Chevrolet Reaper came after rumors that the manufacturer has planned to change the whole pickup truck line in order to follow the competition and their impressive changes. Nobody expected that it will happen so soon, as well as so detailed that the first photos of the car we saw literally surprised us. The model is slightly enlarged, got stronger engines and few improvements in the cabin.

Heavy camouflage is covering most of what we believe it will be 2020 Chevy Reaper. It is still early to say anything about this model, but this could be the first run and test. The truck could appear for the first time in Detroit, in January 2019, so it leaves around a year for development. That can be the first prototype, and the company can continue work toward the final truck. The debut of the production model could happen later in 2019, probably in the second half.

The spied truck is heavy and bold. It reminds us of Silverado ZR2. The 2020 Chevy Reaper will use the shell of the Silverado, while the real thing is happening under the hood. Visually, there won’t be big modifications in design. Appearance is going to be much more aggressive, but the heavy camo is still hiding details from spectators.

We are curious about the drivetrain of the 2020 Chevy Reaper. What could be in the engine room to compete F-150 Raptor? As the entire Ford F-150 lineup, the performance-tuned unit will carry a 3.5-liter V-6 powertrain. The bare unit is too weak for this class, so the engineers will boost it with various systems and features. Everything will be special about it.

There are two engines that will be offered as optional in 2020 Chevrolet Reaper. The base model should use 6.2-liter V8 motor with 550 horsepower of strength and 575 pound-feet of torque. The second option is 5.3-liter V8 that is smaller and weaker. The strength of this version is 481 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque. Both come with six-speed automatic transmission, while the buyers will be able to choose the eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard model also comes as an all-wheel driving system.

The Chevy has something on its sleeve. For 2020 Chevrolet Reaper engineers are planning a 5.3-liter V-8 EcoTec unit. It will be capable not to match 450 hp produced by Raptor, but also to top it. It won’t go over 500 horses unless we see a 6.2-liter drivetrain.

If we are looking through history, we can see that there were some concepts that could develop to 2020 Chevy Reaper. At the first place, there is an idea from 2014. Back then, the goal was the same– to be a true competitor to the Ford Raptor. Back then the concept wasn’t turned into a production model. Now it is likely we will see it in 2020.

With regular 2020 Chevy Reaper still unconfirmed, it is not easy to speculate about the plug-in hybrid. Its main rival is a step ahead here, and there are rumors about the electrified Raptor in 2019. Well, we believe fans would like to see the Reaper first, and then its variations.

2020 Chevrolet Reaper is much larger than before, with impressive details on the ends. The vehicle has large LED front lights on the extremely wide front grille and above the wide air intake. Thanks to the size of the front end, the sides of the trucks are protected from mud and dust. On the other hand, the rear end is curved and chubby, with simple chromatic hands and squared rear lights. The model is obviously made to fulfill both expectations, for those who are planned to drive it for heavy load and off-road challenges and those who are simply loved in large trucks for city driving. It is a decent competitor to Ford F-150.

It is obvious that enlarging the size of the truck affected on the size of the cabin inside of 2020 Chevrolet Reaper. Not only that it is made for workers, but it also provides plenty of space for the full cabin of passengers and their cargo and tools. The manufacturer has not forgotten the equipment, which is great for this size of the vehicles. It includes 4G connection, improved infotainment system, and a great safety system. The cabin is modesty designed, in black color decorated with the details in chrome.

The third US truckmaker stepped into the entire story. Ram is planning to produce their own performance-oriented truck. That will be the Rebel TRX, whose production is also expected for 2020. Both companies are aiming for 100 mph run off the road, and it is the major reason why the fans expect these models so eagerly.

The manufacturer has not been clear about the releasing date for 2020 Chevrolet Reaper. Even though we are planned to see it at some time next year, it could happen that the manufacturer sends it to the dealers at the end of this year. That did not happen, so expect that the model will be very soon next year. The price should be around $50,000.
