It is a massive step for the Japanese automakers in every possible way. Besides the plug-in version, RAV4 will get a couple of subtle updates.

Four-Cylinder Gasoline Engine is a Carryover
Plug-In Hybrid version is official. However, the 2021 Toyota RAV4 still offers a conventional 2.5-liter. This four-cylinder gasoline engine is producing up to 176 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. This output comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
On top of that, the AWD system is optional. Towing capacity is rated at 3,500 pounds. Moreover, fuel economy delivers 22 mph in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
2021 RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid

A hybrid version is probably the most potent variant available. Its output delivers 220 horsepower from the mix of a 2.5-liter engine and two electric motors.
The company plans to install new batteries, which should provide more power and better mileage. RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid comes with a new Supersonic Red color. The teaser image is available, and it also shows black roof and new chrome wheels.
As we already mentioned, the 2021 Toyota RAV4 won’t get such significant changes. Whatsoever, exterior changes are barely visible. According to the Japanese manufacturer, the grille will be more extensive this time. Rear bumper will be slightly modified.
The hood and the side profile will get new but subtle creases. RAV4 crossover will continue to deliver an aggressive look and sporty vibe. Dimensions of the vehicle will largely remain. Even the standard and optional equipment are intact.
The base trim level called LE offers pretty much standard stuff in a crossover segment. The 2021 Toyota RAV4 is available with a standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Satellite radio, Amazon Alexa, and navigation are offered as standard. The LE models can be equipped with leather upholstery that is optional. That means the cloth seats are standard. RAV4 XLE trim comes with a power driver seat, rain-sensing wipers, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. XLE Premium trim level adds JBL sound system and larger infotainment display.
RAV4 Adventure is available with larger fender flares, unique bumpers, and roof rails. Visually, it looks more rugged than the previous trim levels. Off-Road models are coming with a standard torque-vectoring AWD and better towing capacity. The range-topping RAV4 Limited is the most luxury variant. Leather seats with heating options are standard. Moonroof, rearview mirror, chrome trims, and lumbar support are also available.
2021 Toyota RAV4 Price and Release Date
The all-new 2021 Toyota RAV4 will start at $27,000. Plug-In Hybrid powertrain adds $2,200 to the current price. On the other hand, range-topping RAV4 Limited costs $35,000.
Equip it with hybrid technology and AWD system, and you’ll have to pay almost $40,000. The massive newest crossover will go on sale in the last quarter of 2022.
