2022 Volvo XC40 Colors, Design, Price, and Release Date. Volvo is introducing its first all-electric vehicle. The approaching 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge will go on sale later in 2020. According to Swedish carmaker, the price will start below $50,000. Volvo promises around 200 miles of driving range and over 400 horsepower. The recharge variant is based on the popular XC40 compact crossover-SUV.
Unlike the regular variant that uses a four-cylinder turbo engine, Recharge will deploy an electrified powertrain. Besides an excellent driving range and a lot of power, the AWD system is offered as standard. Volvo also says that the new model will be both quick and efficient.
2022 Volvo XC40 Driving Range
The all-new 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge will offer a range of 400 kilometers or around 250 miles. However, this electric crossover provides 250 miles of range at its best. The regular version comes with 200 miles combined. Those figures are similar to Audi’s new e-Tron all-electric SUV. As for the charging, the Swedish automaker is yet to announce exact numbers.
Charging and Power
Volvo said the Recharge model would recharge 80 percent of the battery in 40 minutes. Of course, we are talking about the fast-charge system. As for the acceleration, the 2022 XC40 Recharge sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge will use a 78-kWh battery pack.
We don’t know a lot about the battery, except its capacity. Even the electric powertrain is quite a mystery. Swedish automaker only promised a performance of 402 horsepower. We are waiting for Volvo to announce torque figures and towing capacity.
XC40 vs. XC40 Recharge
The powertrain, base XC40 and XC40 Recharge will depart in some other ways. The all-electric variant comes with a unique front fascia that replaces the traditional grille. Remember, the grille is not needed because there is no engine cooling. Just like on Tesla’s model, the 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge also features front storage called the “frunk.”.
From the inside, Recharge offers the latest infotainment system powered by Google. It is the latest collaboration between Google and Volvo that provides Android Auto, Google Maps, Google Store and much more. The Swedish manufacturer is also thinking of Apple iPhone users.
How Much Does 2022 XC40 Recharge Cost?
The exact price isn’t specified yet. However, Volvo said the target is to deliver a new model with a price under $50,000. Knowing that the upcoming 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge is more affordable than Jaguar I-Pace and Audi e-Tron SUVs.
However, Hyundai Kona EV is still more affordable than all three mentioned models. Volvo will release pricing details closer to the launch date in the third quarter of 2020. Expect big things from the company as Volvo plans to release one all-electric vehicle each year until 2025.
